There are two times during any given day that I whip out my phone & little speaker— first thing when the kids get up & at 6:30 in the evening. Getting your morning going with an upbeat sound is the best way to kick off a new day– & again, when everyone is tired of each other but it’s too early to go to bed, we have a dance party, & the room turns into show-stopping energy.

We started having dance parties on the regular when I realized how much music affected my own mood– it’s impossible to stay in a bad mood when Another Day of Sun from La La Land is playing over you. And dancing is essential! I look like the whitest girl on planet earth when I dance, but it doesn’t stop me. We are stomping, twirling, jumping on furniture (much to Blake’s chagrin), & getting in some solid cardio while we’re at it.

Here’s what’s on our current CEJ (Collins.Emma.Jude) Dance Party Playlist (We change it up often thanks to Spotify’s endless song supply.) I’ve included some sort of video clip for each song so you can check them out!

The Wake Up Song — Lisa Loeb

There will be plenty of days ahead when the kids are super annoyed when I wake them up with song. But I get away with it right now, & this is the perfect song to blare.

Just Like Fire — Pink

The Greatest Show — Hugh Jackman, The Greatest Showman

Do You Believe in Magic — The Lovin’ Spoonful

Honey, Honey — Amanda Seyfried, Mama Mia

Try Everything — Shakira, Zootopia

Gorgeous — Taylor Swift

Sing — Ellie Holcomb

Seriously, ya’ll– her whole new kids’ album is gorgeous.

The Goldenwing CircusSofia the First

Listen. Some little kid shows drive me bonkers, but Disney Jr never fails me. Pretty sure we’ve seen every episode of this show multiple times.

Hair Up — Justin Timberlake, Trolls

This is probably Emma & Jude’s favorite song to dance to right now.

Can’t Hold Us — Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft Ray Dalton

This is Me — Keala Settle, The Greatest Showman

I LOVE this behind the scenes video for this song. Watch it IMMEDIATELY for all the good feels.

Gaston — Josh Gad & Luke Evans, Beauty and the Beast

Run Baby Run — Caspar Babypants

Another one more for the kids but renders me exhausted by the end of it from sprinting around the house, usually holding a small child.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious — Julie Andrew & Dick Van Dyke, Mary Poppins

Wouldn’t It Be Nice — The Beach Boys

Collins thinks the movie Minions invented this song.

Shake It Off — Taylor Swift

Party in the USA — Miley Cyrus

My TimeElena of Avalor

Disney Junior wins again.

Love Story — Taylor Swift

…or until 7:30 when everyone goes to bed.

I hope this gives you a good starting place to create your own playlist for you & your people to break a sweat together! It’s a guarantee for stopping sibling arguments, making you think you’re on your way to being a top notch backup dancer, & reminding yourself why it’s a good idea to wait to buy new furniture.

Why have we never listened to this song together?

I love how music can turn everyone’s mood around – I need to incorporate this more often! And I love that you have a playlist – I need this in my life!

🙂 If I’m writing it, it’s because I need to hear it.
